ZINE SURREALE

Zine SURREALE explores surrealism in street portrait photography, combining everyday motifs with unusual visual elements. The idea was to create a photographic experiment that questions identity and anonymity in today's society through symbolism and visual contrast.

The series uses simple but symbolic props such as fishing line, fruit, mirrors and newspapers with personalised front pages that were first designed digitally and printed. These elements were used in the compositions to create surreal scenes, such as a floating apple, a nod to Magritte's famous painting “The Son of Man”.

The project also includes self-portraits, shot and edited in the same visual style. After the shoot, the zine was laid out in page layout softwareand then finished by hand: cut, folded and completed with a marker and a ruler, keeping the DIY aesthetic typical of independent art publications.

ZINE SURREALE is a tribute to René Magritte and his philosophy of concealing and revealing. The faces in the photos stay hidden, which leaves room for identification: that face could be yours.
